The news from Texas continues to have our attention and break our hearts. The reports of devastation are sobering, the need is unprecedented. Convoy of Hope is responding to this historic devastation in the Texas Hill Country with a massive relief effort. Our Disaster Response Team was on the move within hours of the torrential flooding that overwhelmed the banks of the Guadalupe River in the early hours of July 4. Key personnel were on the ground even before the waters began to recede, quickly assessing the most critical needs while preparing for the arrival of a fleet of Convoy trucks carrying much needed relief supplies.
Convoy of Hope is already engaged in relief activity that spans more than 100 miles, including communities like San Saba where Convoy’s trucks are already delivering essential recovery supplies. Our team is also on the ground in Kerr County, with Kerrville experiencing significant damage from the ravaging floods waters. Kerrville will serve as a hub for much of Convoy’s relief activity.
Convoy’s extensive response includes:
• Numerous truckloads of relief are currently being delivered, with many more on the way
• COH Relief Teams were on location within hours
• Additional COH relief workers arriving daily
• Convoy of Hope’s large network of corporate partners and more than 6,000 churches are engaged in the relief effort.
• Convoy of Hope has identified multiple distribution sites throughout the Hill Country region
Our Disaster Response team is initially focused on the mass distribution of much needed emergency supplies. This is the first phase of relief work that will likely extend over a two-year period. These efforts will include:
• Debris Removal
• Mucking out affected homes
• Multiple Community-wide Outreach Events
Relief is being delivered, and even more help is on the way because of the generosity of many Convoy of Hope partners. Together we are providing the immediate support needed with a commitment to stay engaged for the long haul.
